About Genesius of Arles

Genesius of Arles is venerated as a martyr and patron of notaries. According to his traditional passion, he worked as a secretary to a magistrate in Arles. While still a catechumen, he rejected an edict persecuting Christians, fled, and was captured and executed. His commemoration is August 25. Genesius of Rome, the actor associated with a conversion during a theatrical baptism, belongs to a separate hagiographical tradition and is not treated here as an alternate identity.
