About Bonaventure

Bonaventure was a Franciscan theologian, cardinal, and Doctor of the Church, called "Seraphic Doctor." Minister General of Franciscans, he wrote their official biography of Francis and guided the order through conflicts. His mystical theology emphasized love over intellect. He helped prepare the Council of Lyon for Church reunion. Declared Doctor 1588.
