About Gertrude the Great

Gertrude was a German Benedictine nun and mystic. Entering the monastery at age five, she became a scholar but at age 25 experienced a conversion leading to mystical prayer. Her visions of Christ's Sacred Heart and writings on His love influenced Sacred Heart devotion. Her mystical theology emphasized God's tender love.
