About Leo the Great

Leo I was Pope from 440-461, called "the Great" for his leadership and theology. He confronted Attila the Hun, saving Rome from invasion. At the Council of Chalcedon, his "Tome" defined Christ's two natures in one person. He strengthened papal authority and clarified Christological doctrine. First pope declared Doctor of the Church.
