About Adalbert of Prague

Adalbert was Bishop of Prague who twice fled his diocese due to opposition, becoming a missionary to pagans in Poland, Hungary, and Prussia. While evangelizing Prussian tribes, he was martyred by pagan priests around 997. His death made him patron of Bohemia and Poland, and his shrine in Gniezno became a pilgrimage site.
