About Paul Miki
Paul Miki was a Japanese Jesuit seminarian martyred by crucifixion in Nagasaki. When Christianity was banned in Japan, twenty-six Catholics (including Miki) were crucified on February 5, 1597. Miki preached from the cross, forgiving his executioners and declaring Jesus as the only way to salvation. The Twenty-Six Martyrs of Japan were canonized in 1862.
