About Elizabeth Ann Seton

Elizabeth Ann Seton was the first native-born American saint. Born to a prominent Episcopal family in New York, she married William Seton and had five children. Widowed, she converted to Catholicism and founded the Sisters of Charity, establishing Catholic schools and orphanages. She pioneered Catholic education in America. Canonized 1975.
