Clare of Montefalco

About Clare of Montefalco
Clare of Montefalco was an Augustinian nun and mystic in Italy. She experienced mystical visions of Christ's Passion and reportedly received invisible stigmata. After her death, an autopsy found unusual formations in her heart, interpreted as symbols of Christ's Passion. Whether miraculous or natural, her contemplation of Christ's suffering was profound. Canonized 1881.
