Pier Giorgio Frassati was an Italian Catholic youth who lived a vibrant faith combining prayer, service to the poor, outdoor activities, and friendship. From a wealthy family, he secretly gave his money to the poor and personally served the sick. He was involved in Catholic Action and politics, defending workers' rights. He died suddenly at 24 from polio, likely contracted serving the sick. His funeral drew thousands of poor people his family didn't know he had helped. Beatified in 1990, he was canonized by Pope Leo XIV on September 7, 2025.
