Saturninus of Toulouse

About Saturninus of Toulouse
Saturninus was the first Bishop of Toulouse, martyred around 257 AD. According to tradition, while passing a pagan temple, he was seized by a mob and ordered to sacrifice. When he refused, he was tied to a bull that dragged him through the streets until he died. He was buried where he fell, and the basilica of Saint-Sernin was built over his tomb, becoming a major pilgrimage site on the Way of St. James.
