About Conrad of Constance

Conrad was Bishop of Constance who served faithfully for decades before resigning to become a hermit. From a noble family, Conrad became bishop around 934 and governed wisely for 26 years. He made three pilgrimages to Jerusalem—remarkable for that era. Around 960, he resigned his see and lived as a hermit for his final 15 years. His combination of episcopal service and eremitic contemplation represents balance between active ministry and contemplative prayer.
