About Francis of Paola

Francis of Paola founded the Order of Minims, emphasizing humility and perpetual Lent (no meat, fish, eggs, or dairy). Born in Calabria, Francis lived as a hermit from age 15. His holiness attracted disciples, forming a community. Francis performed numerous miracles, including walking on water and raising the dead. King Louis XI of France summoned him to his deathbed. Francis spent his last 25 years in France, counseling kings while maintaining his austere lifestyle. He died at age 91 in 1507.
