About Francis Solanus

Francis Solanus was a Spanish Franciscan missionary to South America, called the "Wonder-Worker of the New World." He worked in Argentina, Paraguay, and Peru, learning indigenous languages and preaching with great success. Francis performed numerous miracles and converted thousands. His charity to the poor, preaching ability, and holiness made him beloved. He played violin while preaching and was noted for levitation and prophecy. He died in Peru in 1610 and was canonized in 1726.
