About André Bessette

André Bessette was a Holy Cross brother in Montreal who became famous for miraculous healings through St. Joseph's intercession. Orphaned and uneducated, André joined the Holy Cross brothers as a porter. For 40 years, he answered doors, welcomed visitors, and prayed for the sick, recommending they pray to St. Joseph and rub themselves with oil from the lamp before St. Joseph's statue. Thousands reported healings. Brother André built a small chapel to St. Joseph that grew into the magnificent Saint Joseph's Oratory in Montreal. Over a million attended his funeral. Canonized 2010.
