About Conchita Barrecheguren

Maria de la Concepción Barrecheguren García, known as Conchita, was a Spanish Catholic laywoman born in Granada on November 27, 1905. Her parents educated her at home because of her fragile health. She developed a life of prayer and devotion to the Eucharist and wished to become a Carmelite, but illness prevented her from entering religious life.

After years of illness, she contracted tuberculosis in 1926 and died in Granada on May 13, 1927. Her spiritual life was influenced by Saint Thérèse of Lisieux. She was beatified on May 6, 2023, and her liturgical memorial is celebrated on May 13.
