About Pierina Morosini
Pierina Morosini was an Italian Catholic laywoman born in Fiobbio on January 7, 1931. She worked in a cotton mill to help support her family and participated in Catholic Action. She chose to remain with her family rather than enter a convent and made private vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience.
On April 4, 1957, she was attacked while returning home from work and suffered a fatal head injury. She was taken to hospital in Bergamo and died on April 6 without regaining consciousness. Pope John Paul II beatified her as a martyr on October 4, 1987. The Dicastery for the Causes of Saints lists her liturgical memorial on May 6.
