About Agathius

Saint Agathius was an early Christian martyr and Roman soldier who lived during the late 3rd and early 4th centuries AD. Born in Sebaste (modern-day Sivas, Turkey), he served faithfully in the Roman army but openly professed his Christian faith during a time when Christians faced brutal persecution under Emperor Diocletian.

Refusing to renounce Christianity, Agathius was arrested, tortured, and ultimately executed near Aquileia (in present-day Italy) around 303 AD. His unwavering commitment to Christ in the face of suffering made him a revered symbol of courage and faithfulness.

Saint Agathius is honored as a patron saint of soldiers and is celebrated for his steadfastness, embodying the Christian ideal of enduring persecution with courage and devotion.
