About Giles

Saint Giles was a Christian hermit and abbot known for his deep piety, compassion, and life of seclusion dedicated to God. After leaving Greece, he lived as a hermit in the forests of southern France, where he was sustained, according to legend, by the milk of a deer. He gained fame for his holiness and eventually founded a monastery that became a major pilgrimage site.

Although not a martyr, Saint Giles is revered for his ascetic life and spiritual devotion. He became one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers in medieval Christianity and is the patron saint of the disabled, beggars, and hermits.
