Abamun of Tarnut

About Abamun of Tarnut
Abamun of Tarnut is known through a brief notice in the Copto-Arabic Synaxarion associated with Mikhail, bishop of Atrib and Malij, around 1240. This medieval church account remembers him as a fourth-century martyr.
According to that tradition, Abamun was in Upper Egypt when he witnessed the persecution of Christians. He voluntarily presented himself to Arianus, governor of Antinoopolis. After being tortured, he was sent to Alexandria, where the account says he was beheaded.
