About Asaph

Asaph is remembered through medieval Welsh church tradition rather than a contemporary life. In Jocelin of Furness’s late twelfth-century Life of Kentigern, the young Asaph carries live coals without burning his clothing, and Kentigern later designates him as successor. Those episodes show how later writers remembered Asaph; they are not independent evidence for the details of his early life or the date of his ministry.
