Bacchus

About Bacchus

The Roman Martyrology remembers Bacchus with Sergius as a martyr of Syria and retells his death after a beating. Vatican News attests the pair’s Syrian cult, while the Catholic Encyclopedia regards their surviving Acts as inauthentic. The beating belongs to the received passion tradition, not a securely reconstructed biography.
