About Bibiana

A basilica established under Pope Simplicius in the fifth century attests the Roman cult of Bibiana. Her detailed story of family persecution, imprisonment, and death comes instead from a later anonymous Passio, not contemporary testimony. Vatican State distinguishes the basilican evidence from that received narrative.
