About Caraunus

Caraunus, also known as Chéron, is a saint of the Chartres region remembered through a life written centuries after the period traditionally assigned to him. The surviving manuscript catalog identifies the *Vita et passio sancti Carauni Carnotensis* (BHL 1565), while source bibliography dates the life no earlier than the ninth century. His missionary and martyr episodes therefore belong to later local tradition, not secure contemporary biography.
