About Laurentia

The Archdiocese of Ancona-Osimo reports relics attributed to two women called Palazia and Laurenzia in the cathedral. This supports a paired local cult, but neither verifies the relic identities nor supplies a biography. An older Roman Martyrology transcription names Palatias and Laurentia together at Ancona on October 8; the variant spellings are retained as evidence of the cult’s record, not treated as aliases for one person.

The older calendar entry associates the pair with the persecution of Diocletian, but that setting is not independent proof of an individual martyrdom. The Bollandist Acta Sanctorum discusses variant dates and questions the reliability of the passion narrative. No execution account or personal chronology is used here as established history.

The current calendar evidence differs from the older entry. The official 2025–2026 Ancona-Osimo agenda lists October 8 as a feria without Palazia or Laurenzia, and the Italian Bishops’ Conference 2004 typical Roman Martyrology search found none of the four name forms. October 8 is therefore retained as historical calendar evidence, not a current universal Roman Catholic feast. No reviewed source establishes Laurentia’s individual dates, birthplace, or death place.
