The Roman Martyrology places Thecla among a group of martyrs commemorated at Rome on March 26. It names Peter, Marcian, Jovinus, Thecla, Cassian, and additional companions, but does not describe an individual event or give personal dates for Thecla. The entry records a shared cult identity, not a recoverable life story.The same name is borne by Thecla of Iconium, whose later and much fuller tradition is associated with the Acts of Paul and Thecla. Catholic Encyclopedia explicitly distinguishes the otherwise obscure Roman Thecla from that figure. No evidence links the two, so episodes, dates, places, and attributes associated with Thecla of Iconium cannot be assigned to the Roman martyr.
