Theodosia of Constantinople

About Theodosia of Constantinople
The Orthodox Church in America’s account says Theodosia was raised at a women’s monastery in Constantinople after her parents died. It relates that she gave much of her inheritance to the poor, became a nun, and used some funds for icons. These are particulars of the transmitted devotional life, not independently established records. The same life places her in Constantinople during the eighth-century iconoclast controversy. It says she and other women tried to prevent removal of an image of Christ from the Bronze Gates; the narrative then tells of her imprisonment and killing.
