Theodotus of Ancyra

About Theodotus of Ancyra
The OCA life places Theodotus in Ancyra, Galatia, during the late third and early fourth centuries and describes him as an innkeeper. It says he aided Christians during persecution, buried martyrs, and provided space for worship after churches were closed. These are details in a later devotional narrative and are presented as that tradition, rather than as independently verified contemporary biography.OCA recounts that Theodotus was associated with seven women martyrs, including his aunt Tecusa. Its June 7 version tells that the women were drowned and that he was later arrested and executed; it also states that his commemoration falls on May 18 as well as June 7. The shared place-name also belongs to a distinct fifth-century bishop. The May 18 feast and martyr-group tradition make the identity here the earlier martyr, not that later bishop.
