Verdiana

About Verdiana

Verdiana is associated with Castelfiorentino in Tuscany. The Vatican City State profile reports a birth in 1178 but distinguishes that chronology from popular stories about her early life and service in the Attavanti household. It describes her as choosing a reclusive life in a small cell near the Elsa River. Modern scholarship emphasizes that the written lives survive in later hagiographies, which are evidence for her cult and its development rather than transparent contemporary biographies.
