About Vincent Ferrer

Vincent Ferrer entered the Dominican Order in Valencia and later became known for preaching. The Order of Preachers describes his work as itinerant preaching across western Europe and records his death at Vannes in Brittany on April 5, 1419. Pope Callixtus III canonized him on June 29, 1455. Research by the University of Valencia cautions that many sermons attributed to Ferrer are transmitted in collections developed from notes taken by listeners; they are valuable evidence of his preaching but not necessarily verbatim authorial texts.
