Abel of Reims

About Abel of Reims
Abel was a monk associated with Lobbes who was appointed to the see of Reims in 744. The appointment formed part of the church reforms supported by Boniface and Pippin.
According to the church biography, Milo retained control of the see, preventing Abel from taking possession. Abel eventually relinquished the office and returned to Lobbes, where he became abbot.
His origins are uncertain, and the account preserves several dates for his death in the middle of the eighth century.
