Ada of Le Mans

About Ada of Le Mans
Ada is remembered as a nun at Soissons who became abbess of Saint-Julien-du-Pré near Le Mans. The Norwegian Catholic Church’s biography places her in seventh-century France.
Nominis also associates her with the religious communities at Soissons and Le Mans, and records the names Adna and Adrechilde.
The Norwegian account reports that her remains were brought into the cathedral during Bishop Aldric’s renewal of local saints’ veneration. It attributes this account to the ninth-century Gesta Aldrici.
Ada’s remembrance continued beyond her own community: the same church reference names her as a patron of religious sisters in France.
