About Agatha Yi Kan-nan

Agatha Yi Kan-nan grew up in a family in Seoul that was not Catholic. After widowhood, she learned about Catholicism and received baptism from Pacificus Yu. She helped her mother-in-law and other family members learn about the religion.

Agatha saved money and acquired a house where she lived with friends.

After Andrew Kim Tae-gon’s arrest in 1846, she sought refuge in accommodation arranged by Charles Hyon Song-mun. She was arrested with other Catholics and refused to renounce her faith despite severe punishment.

She died in prison in Seoul on September 20, 1846.
