About Agnes Tsao Kou Ying
Agnes Tsao Kou Ying, also known as Agnes Cao Guiying, was a Chinese Catholic widow. After losing her parents and later her husband, she supported herself through work and found shelter with other Catholic women. Her knowledge of Scripture and church teaching brought her into contact with the missionary Auguste Chapdelaine.
She moved to Guangxi to teach catechism among Catholic families, combining this work with practical help in their homes. She was arrested in 1856 and died in captivity. She was executed on 1 March.
