About Ammon the Recluse of the Kiev Caves

Ammon is remembered as a Kiev Caves recluse with the epithet Lover of Labor. The Orthodox Church in America's brief notice says that he visited Mount Athos and Jerusalem before returning to the community. It remembers him as an example of monastic life to his fellow monks and records his burial in the Far Caves. Those details establish the outline of a received remembrance, but the notice supplies no dates, route, or particular events for the journeys. It also gives no family history or exact birth and death years. A more detailed itinerary or life chronology is therefore not reconstructed.
