About Ann An Jiaoshi

Ann An Jiaoshi was a Chinese Catholic laywoman born in 1874 in Anping County, Hebei. She married Anna An Xin’s grandson; the older Anna, Mary An Guo and Mary An Linghua appear with her in the family’s martyrdom account.

Captured while seeking refuge, the four women refused to abandon their faith and were killed outside the village on 11 July 1900 during the Boxer persecution.

John Paul II named Anna An Jiao among the laypeople canonized with Augustine Zhao Rong and his companions on 1 October 2000.

She is remembered with this group on 9 July in the Catholic calendar used in the United States.
