About Antidius of Besancon

Antidius is remembered as a bishop of Besançon and a fifth-century martyr.

A sixteenth-century reliquary at Palleau preserves relics attributed to him. The regional inventory considers their transfer from Besançon to Palleau probable in the eleventh century.

Later stories about him include a fantastic journey to Rome, depicted on the reliquary. Such imagery records devotional legend rather than a verified journey.

His local commemoration is listed on June 17.
