Biography
Antiochus of Lyon
About Antiochus of Lyon
Antiochus is remembered as a priest of Lyon who traveled to Egypt to visit Justus, a former bishop living at Scetis. The diocesan tradition says he hoped to persuade Justus to return, but instead was himself drawn to the hermit’s life. Justus urged him to go back to Gaul.
Antiochus later became bishop of Lyon. The same account credits him with bringing Justus’s remains back to Lyon and records his own burial in the same basilica.
