Bartholomew Chong Mun-ho

About Bartholomew Chong Mun-ho
Bartholomew Chong Mun-ho came from Imcheon in Chungcheong Province. After becoming a Catholic, he left public office. Persecution led him to move between communities before settling near Peter Son Son-ji. He taught Catholics about their religion.
When persecution spread in 1866, he sent a messenger to learn about conditions at Jeonju. Police arrested him before the messenger returned.
Under questioning, Bartholomew was tempted to abandon his religion, but his companions, especially Peter Cho Hwa-so, encouraged him. He continued professing Catholicism despite severe punishment.
He was executed on December 13, 1866.
