About Benedict of Milan
Benedict was bishop of Milan in the late seventh and early eighth centuries. The older Treccani account describes his unsuccessful effort to bring the church of Pavia under Milan’s authority.
He has also been identified with the author of a medical poem. A later scholarly discussion distinguishes the bishop from the deacon associated with that work, so its authorship is not assigned to him here.
His local commemoration is listed on March 11.
