Bosa of York

About Bosa of York
Bosa of York received his education in the religious community at Whitby under Hilda. In 678 Theodore of Canterbury consecrated him bishop of Deira, with his seat at York, after Wilfrid’s removal and the division of the diocese.
His service was interrupted when Wilfrid returned, but he resumed it after Wilfrid’s second expulsion in 691. The church biography notes Bede’s favorable description of Bosa and identifies Acca among his pupils.
It places his death at York on March 9, 705. A later list copied by John Leland locates his burial in York; the entry identifies this as the only surviving burial notice it cites.
