Cassian of Autun
About Cassian of Autun
Cassian is remembered as a bishop of Autun and successor to Reticius. His death is placed around the middle of the fourth century.
A biography written in the ninth century describes him as being of Egyptian origin. That late account is not contemporary evidence for his birthplace.
His commemoration is on August 5. The surviving outline identifies his episcopal office and later veneration, but does not establish a detailed chronology of his ministry.
