Ceccardus of Luni
About Ceccardus of Luni
Ceccardus is venerated at Carrara as a bishop of Luni and martyr. His June 16 feast honors him as patron of both the city and its vicariate.
The detailed accounts of his death are late and uncertain. Historian Enrica Salvatori notes the lack of contemporary attestation and rejects an unsupported identification with a cleric named Sicherardus in an 816 document.
Relics attributed to him are preserved in Carrara’s cathedral.
