About Chi Zhuzi

Chi Zhuzi came from a farming family in Hebei and began learning Catholic teaching through the example of neighbours. He sought to join the Church as a teenager, although he had not yet received baptism. His family opposed his continued participation when persecution threatened the village.

After finding temporary shelter with a Catholic household, he was intercepted while returning home. The received account says that he refused an order to worship in a temple and was killed in 1900. He was canonized in 2000 with the Chinese martyrs.
