About Elizabeth Qin Bianshi

Elizabeth Qin Bianshi was a Catholic widow with six children in Hebei. During the Boxer uprising, the family moved between shelters as they tried to avoid arrest. The church account describes her remaining with her children through repeated attempts to force them to abandon their faith.

Her son Simon was killed first, followed by other members of the household. Elizabeth was taken to fields outside the village and killed with daughters who had remained beside her. She was canonized in 2000 with the Chinese martyrs.
