Euprepius of Verona
About Euprepius of Verona
Euprepius is remembered as the first bishop of Verona. Nothing is known of the events of his life.
The name appears at the head of the city’s episcopal succession in early medieval evidence, including the Versus de Verona. That witness preserves an ecclesiastical memory rather than a full biography.
His episcopate is generally placed in the third century. The old story that Peter sent him to Verona has been abandoned.
His commemoration remains on August 21, separate from the collective feast of Verona’s holy bishops.
