Evellius
About Evellius
Evellius appears in the legendary Passion of Torpes of Pisa. The story makes him an imperial adviser who was moved by the witness of persecuted Christians.
According to the narrative, he left Nero’s court, became Christian and was later executed. Different versions disagree about the place and timing of his death.
Medieval martyrologies added his name under May 11. The account is best understood as part of the development of Torpes’s martyr tradition, rather than as an independently documented career.
