Biography
Hildemarque of Fecamp
About Hildemarque of Fecamp
Hildemarque is remembered as the leader of an early community of religious women at Fécamp. The tradition brings her from the Bordeaux region and links the foundation with Waning.
Historian Françoise Pouge stresses that the written evidence for the foundation is limited and unreliable. Archaeology establishes a later early-medieval monastic presence, but does not supply a detailed personal biography of the abbess.
Her Catholic feast is listed on June 19.
