About Ignatius of the Kiev Caves

Ignatius is remembered as an archimandrite of the monastery of the Kiev Caves. The Orthodox Church in America’s notice draws attention to the community’s liturgical service, which honors him as a monastic pastor and healer. That language records his religious commemoration; it does not provide a full contemporary biography or independently verified medical history.

He was buried in the Far Caves associated with Theodosius. His December 20 feast joins him to his namesake, Ignatius of Antioch. He is also included with the Far Caves saints on August 28. The consulted notice gives no precise life dates or childhood history, so the record preserves those limits rather than constructing a personal chronology.
