Inocencio of Mary Immaculate

About Inocencio of Mary Immaculate
Inocencio of Mary Immaculate was born Manuel Canoura Arnau in Galicia in 1887. He entered the Passionist congregation and became a priest. The Vatican biography places him at Turón in Asturias in October 1934, where he was serving a school community run by the Brothers of the Christian Schools.
During unrest, he was arrested with eight brothers. The group was killed on October 9, 1934. Inocencio was the Passionist priest among them, not one of the eight teaching brothers; that distinction matters when relating his profile to the others in this batch.
The church canonized the Turón martyrs in 1999. Their shared remembrance preserves the distinct vocations within one episode: a priest and a group of educators. The account should not blend Inocencio’s birth name or congregation with those of Héctor Valdivielso Sáez or Cirilo Bertrán.
