John Zhang Huan
About John Zhang Huan
John Zhang Huan grew up in a Catholic family in Shanxi. He entered the junior seminary and later moved to Taiyuan with fellow students John Wang Rui and Philip Zhang Zhihe. Elia Facchini guided his formation, and he joined the Franciscan third order.
His studies ended when persecution closed the seminary in 1900. He was captured with other students and held with the mission community. The church account records their execution at Taiyuan in July. He is remembered as a seminarian whose intended priestly vocation remained unfinished, not as an ordained priest.
